Water, Not Jet Fighters! A water bottle and N-95 mask drive

Hey Seattle! Do you hate the Blue Angels’ noisy propaganda show for the US military? So does Cascadia Democratic Action! But we’re taking the opportunity during Seafair to actually do something helpful for our neighbors — instead of celebrating a bunch of screaming jet fighters like the ones being used to bomb Iran.

As the summer heat starts to ramp up and the dreaded wildfire smoke season arrives in Cascadia, join CDA as we help people without shelter, who are the most impacted by climate change. We’re raising funds and collecting donations of bottled water and N-95 masks to distribute to people living without shelter in Seattle.

Yes, we understand that commercially bottled water isn’t ideal, but until Cascadia’s cities offer easily accessible, abundant access to free drinking water, often a few bottles can literally be a lifesaver. And with wildfire season clouding our skies with smoke, N-95 masks can improve the health of those who have to live outside during times of poor air quality.

Donate at Seattle’s Cal Anderson Park, noon – 4 pm Sat. Aug 1

We’ll be setting up a donation station in Seattle’s Cal Anderson Park near the entrance at 11th & Howell from noon- 4 pm, Saturday August 1. (And yes, we’ll be complaining about the militaristic display of US aggression overhead and handing out free earplugs!). We’ll accept both physical donations of bulk water bottle packs and N-95 masks or accept monetary donations (which are preferred over physical donations).

Want to help out? We’ll need volunteers to process donations, transport physical donations to storage, purchase bottles & masks, and help distribute water and masks to those in need at a future date alongside our mutual aid partners.
